Week 5

We are still on the track, enjoying the discussions with our colleagues, sharing new ideas, and recalling methods and notions we studied long time ago. I enjoy the company. Thanks to mentors and participants. What have I learned so far and how do I feel ?

Two weeks ago we were introduced to delicious. We created our own delicious page. Only now I realize the purpose of Delicious. My favorite and useful links and those proposed by my friends are on my computer. They are all together. Now working on Webquest or PBL I can choose some and assemble their thoughts and create a special web to discuss a new topic. Can I do it well right now? I don't think so, but I am happy to know how to make it and referring to Suzan Gaer,Zunal ,and Bernie Dodge, I will be able to make my own webquest and help students to make their own. So we will become more autonomous. I mean my students and myself. I am also glad that I have tools that can have people motivated and engaged in their learning.

This week, I feel that I am getting more used to the computer , but so far, I cannot turn the pages as I can do in a printed book. The wish I have now is to be able to register the links just with one click. Copying them on a notebook first and on the computer next, leads to errors. It is really frustrating when you cannot reach a link because of a spelling error.

Anyway, let's go. The methods are helpful and attracting, but the main block is student access to computers. Any way, let's go. The future will better our situations.

  1. Dear Roland,

We are all trying to learn and apply the new things the best we can. Sometimes it is easy, sometimes it is hard, but we should not give up. You know the proverb: If you don't succeed the first time, try, try again. That's the key to success.

I wonder why you have to write the links in your notebook first. Do you have problems using Delicious? If you do, please tell us, we are here to help each other.

    All the best,
    Nina

  2. Dear Roland,
It is good to see that you are overcoming obstacles and learning new ways of teaching enthusiastially. DO not worry, most us are sailing in the same boat. You are right, its frustating to see that the website do not open because of wrong spellings. To cope up with this issue, I have prepared one word page with useful links related to this course. It is hyperlinked and by just one click, I can reach to the site I wanted to. No need to type URLs.
    Regards,
    Dilip (India)

  3. Dear Roland,
Like you I was in problem in creating my WebQuest. Zonal helped me to create Webquest. Though I couldn't finish but I think I am treading the right way.
Nina's proverb may lead you to reach your goal.

    Thanks,

  4. Dear Roland and everyone,

Like you we all are learning new things. I myself have had very busy weeks since the beginning of the course. You had problems with Webquest, but you were not the only one. I explained in my blog how funny I felt trying to do someththing I've never done before. I can see that almost everyone in the group feels unfamiliar with that method of teaching. We all agree that it is very useful and helps us integrate teaching skills to make a lesson more efficient. I hope to use Webquests in class which will make me "an expert" in creating them. Is it a dream? How nice if it is not.

    Regards,
    Zlatka

  5. Dear Roland,

Just keep up the good job you´re doing so far and, overall, your interest in learning about how to incorporate technology into your language teaching. This tells us that you´re not a conformist and traditional teacher, but the kind of teacher that strives for excellence and innovations.

    Yours,

    Aleyda
